James Pratley Watson is a Brooklyn based composer, performer and songwriter. His wide ranging output includes post-classical piano compositions, lo-fi indie rock, experimental film scores and orchestral works. This diverse body of work is united by Watson’s interest in minimalism, aleatoricism and the fusing of acoustic and electronic elements. He was recently awarded Best Original Score at the Berlin Indie Film Festival and was commissioned by The Museum of Modern Art for their The Music of Painting project.

Recent film score credits include upcoming feature comedy Valentina, directed by Tatti Ribeiro and starring Keyla Monterroso Mejia. ON GOD (2024), a dark comedy short film by Andrew Balasia starring James Alexander Warren and Edy Modica which had it’s international premiere at the 2024 Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal and The Feeling Remains (2024) a feature documentary by Sophie Rose. He has also composed music for multimedia and events, such as A Color-Infused Meditation with Dora Kamau (2024) for The Museum of Modern Art and BEYOND (2024), the FIT New York Fashion Week runway show.
